When is registration?
Registration is on Sunday of camp 4:30-6:00 PM
Do you have a storm shelter?
Yes. In the event of severe weather we have a shelter below ground that can accomodate all of our staff and campers.
What about emergency services?
Glad you asked! Byron and Jered are both Emergency medical Technicians and there is a registered nurse on staff. Wayside has a full service ambulance with advanced life support and the paramedic staff to run it, and our staff are all CPR trained!!
Can my child call me?
We discourage phone calls as a means of reducing homesickness, and because camp is supposed to be a growing experience. Rest assured though, if your child is suffering with homesickness we will have them call. Please no cell phones!! Camp should be a time away from the noise of the modern world.
What if my child is a picky eater?
Our food service director has been feeding kids for over 3 years at camp and she knows what kids like. We encourage kids to try everything, but we will not let a child go hungry. She will also make allowances for food allergies and special diets..just let our Nurse know!
How does my child know when to be where?
One of your child's counselors will be with them 24/7 and will take them from place to place. Our counselor to kid ratio is 3 to 1 and sometimes even 2 to 1. Your kiddo will be well looked after!
Where do the counselors come from?
About half of our summer staff are from colleges around Texas, and the other half from high schools. All of the staff must meet a rigorous reference check and a Department of Public Safety background check. There motto is: Love God, Love Kids, and Love each other....and they do it!!! They are Jesus' representatives in sneakers!!!
